Water connection with shut-off valve Connects the water supply from the house to the humidifier. This fitting should include a shutoff valve to allow you to shut off the flow of water to the humidifier, if necessary.
Water Supply Line This 1/4 “line directs water to the humidifier from your water connection. The installer can use a plastic or copper sheath.
Water Drain The 1/2 “hose drains water from the humidifier into a drain in your home.
Establishing the humidity setpoint with a Honeywell HE-105 Humidifier
Continuous operation for up to a week may be required to reach the required humidity set point, especially if the house air is dry when the humidifier is installed. This can also depend on factors such as temperature, house area, furnishings and insulation.
Humidity level Ideal humidity
Experts in the residential construction industry quote a relative humidity of 35% for ideal comfort and to preserve the home during the typical dry season. Adjust the humidity according to your preferences or until there is condensation on the windows. Lower the set point if condensation forms. If the humidifier is not working, but the humidity is below the set point, the humidity regulator may have a frost protection setting to prevent condensation from forming on the windows.
Residential ventilation
Excessive ventilation expels moist air outside and replaces it with dry air. If the house has drafts or mechanical fans, it may be difficult to maintain the humidity set point. If you are installing a fan, use a solution that retains moisture. The use of an energy recovery ventilator (ERV) is recommended.
Cleaning the Honeywell HE-105 Humidifier
It is recommended to replace the humidifier pad and clean the humidifier water trays at least once a year. See the Cleaning and Care section for details.
Energy consumption of the humidifier
Using the humidifier could cause a slight increase in overall energy consumption when using the humidifier. Humidified air, however, seems warmer than dry air. This will allow you to lower the thermostat temperature setting. Every degree less on the thermostat can save up to 30% on heating costs.
